Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The provincial government organized the second Culinary Festival to be held here in the province last March 3, 2011 at the provincial capitol building lobby.
The school-based competition is designed to recognize the top performing students in the culinary field and encourage them to further hone their skills for future national and international contests.
The event was participated by Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) students from different colleges within the province. Three schools fielded contestants in the festival, these are the Mindanao State University - Maigo School of Arts and Trade (MSU-MSAT), the North Central Mindanao Colleges (NCMC) of Lala, and the Lanao del Norte National Agro-Industrial School (LNNAIS) of the capital town Tubod.
The festival is composed of five major contests: cake decorating, table setting, table skirting, flower arranging, and fruit and vegetable carving.
Judges from Cagayan de Oro were impressed with the skill level of the participants particularly those in the table skirting contest.
“I am very impressed by the table skirting skills of the students. They presented such unique and stylish outputs”, Dr. Bernardito Dacubor, Chairman of the Board of Judges expressed.
At the end of day, MSU-MSAT was proclaimed as the grand winner in table skirting, cake decorating, and fruit and vegetable carving contests. While NCMC was declared as the first prize winner in table set-up and flower arrangement categories.
