Tubod, Lanao del Norte – In pursuing the gains of a strengthened peace through unity, the 51st  Araw ng Lanao del Norte was officially opened with a grand parade last June 28 from the town center of Tubod to the Padian/Taboan venue in Brgy. Sagadan which also signaled the grand opening of the “Agri-Aqua, Livestock Display and OTOP Fair 2010.”

The program included the cutting of the ribbon which was officially done by Gov. Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo. Gov. Dimaporo together with municipal and provincial officials then toured the municipal  booths to determine the best booth for this year.

The affair gave opportunities to our local entrepreneurs to exhibit, promote their products and increase their sales. It also supports micro, small and medium enterprises to showcase their manufacturing quality and to take pride of their distinctive products and services which utilized the use of indigenous raw materials, and local manpower.

In his message, Gov. Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo gratefully congratulated all the municipalities and mayors who have joined and exerted efforts to put-up their respective booths and entries. He further said that their participation symbolized that the leaders of the province showed unity for the benefit of the people of Lanao del Norte. The governor also emphasized that it is very important for the various municipalities to show cooperation and support as the province gears up for the realization of Vision 2020.The unique race of carabaos highlighted the agri-aqua, livestock  display and OTOP fair opening. The race brought smiles and laughter to  the curious on-lookers of this rare race.

Highlighting the program was the unique race of carabaos which was enthusiastically participated by farmers of the province. The first place went to Villamor Cuizon of Tubod, Lanao del Norte, Eduardo Sabayton got the second place and the third place was Laureto Pameron of Baroy, Lanao del Norte.

Several competitions like the municipal booth contest also showcased the creativity and craftsmanship of the participants in coming-up with the most presentable and inimitable booth in the site. Getting the nod of approval and the first place in the competition was the municipality of Kapatagan. Second place was awarded to the municipality of Lala. Sapad got third place, Baroy secured fourth place, and fifth and sixth place went Tubod and Salvador respectively.

The event was indeed a success with the strong partnership of the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) and the Provincial Veterinarian Office (PVO). ARMS/PIO-LDN
