Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte recently conducted an agriculture forum as part of the provincial initiative to achieve sustainable agriculture and food security in Lanao del Norte.

More than 140 municipal agriculture officers (MAOs) from the 16 municipalities of Lanao del Norte came together to exchange insights, experiences, and best practices that would hasten the recovery of farmers from the adverse effects of the EL Niño phenomenon.

Cong. Abdullah Dimaporo of the 2nd District discussed the importance of land utilization and encourage intercropping to foster livelihood, create a better understanding between irrigators’ association and farmers, initiate plans and programs as paragon to all agriculturally-based municipalities in Lanao del Norte.

The forum seeks to support all the municipal agriculture officers (MAOs) to get involved with the programs and projects of the provincial government in solidifying the agricultural sector in Lanao del Norte.

The provincial leadership strongly believes that progress is best achieved when all the stakeholders, non-government organizations (NGOs), farmers and local government units understand the critical role of agriculture and works together in maximizing the agricultural production of the province.
