Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The coastal town of Bacolod inaugurated on August 12, 2011 ten infrastructure projects under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services or KALAHI-CIDDS of DSWD.
KALAHI-CIDSS involves the building of small-scale infrastructure and implementation of social and economic activities after communities identify and propose development projects.
Among the barangays granted funding through this flagship poverty-alleviation project of the national government were Alegria, Mate, Demologan, Delabayan West, Kahayag, Minaulon, Babalaya, Pagayawan, Liangan East and Binuni.
With the ten projects totaling to more than P10.5 million pesos, Bacolod received an P8 million-peso grant from DSWD and P1.2 million pesos as counterpart from the provincial government.
“This is one way of encouraging our local chief executives and their barangay officials to really manage well the implementation of these vital projects. Because after all, it will be the people who will benefit most from these infra projects”, 1st District Representative Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo said.
The provincial government led by Governor Khalid Dimaporo has expressed its satisfaction over the smooth implementation of several anti-poverty programs initiated by DSWD in the province. Governor Dimaporo also pledged his full support to these programs and has caused the immediate release of the province’s financial counterpart to hasten implementation.
Among the sub-projects completed by the prioritized barangays in Bacolod were water systems, classroom school buildings, day care centers, and road concreting.
