BMEG Llamados and Powerade Tigers set to battle in Lanao Norte
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – After their devastating loss to the Alaska Aces in the opening game last February 23 at Cuneta Astrodome, the Tigers are setting their eyes on the BMEG Llamados to get on the winning board as both are set to clash on February 26 at the Mindanao Civic Center gym, Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
The two teams are hungry for a win after both suffered losses in their season opener in the on-going PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
This is the first provincial game of the import-laden tournament which started last February 18.The 2011 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner's Cup, is the second conference of the 2010-11 PBA season.
“Lanao del Norte is the home of PBA here in Mindanao. People here are fanatics of basketball and they go wild whenever PBA plays here”, BMEG Derby Ace guard James Yap expressed.
Lanao del Norte has been the regular host of PBA games here in northern Mindanao.
“This year, the PBA has committed to try to have three games here in the province. I’m very happy with the two powerhouse teams that will play tomorrow. I’m sure the game will be exciting to watch”, Governor Khalid Dimaporo said.
Crowd-favorite BMEG Derby Ace Llamados will try to improve from its fourth place finish in the last Philippine Cup. On the other hand, Powerade Tigers will get their chance at redemption and better their ninth place finish.
“We have a good chance of winning this game. We have a very strong import and he’s blending well with the team”, BMEG coach Jorge Gallent said.
The upcoming hardcourt battle will determine who is the more hungry team. And with both teams going full-throttle to get their first win, the residents of Lanao del Norte and nearby cities are expecting another exciting PBA game here in the province.
With 2 more PBA games slated to be played in the sprawling Mindanao Civic Center, this fast-growing province is becoming the favorite sporting destination here in Mindanao. VNL/PIO-LDN
