Bongbong Marcos welcomed by Lanao Norte residents
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Loud cheers greeted senatorial aspirant Bongbong Marcos as he entered the cavernous Mindanao Civic Center gymnasium, this province.
More than one thousand youth leaders were present to welcome the Ilocos Norte solon as he made his campaign stop in the ‘Land of Beauty and Bounty’ last April 8.
Despite being on the opposite sides of the political fence, Bongbong Marcos is still getting a lot of political support from the Dimaporos of this province, “the relationship between us and the Dimaporo family is much stronger than any party affiliation”, remarked Marcos.
“Lumalakas ang loob ko na nagkakaroon tayo ng suporta dito”, Marcos happily narrated as he addressed the participants of the Provincial Youth Summit where he was the Guest of Honor.
In a statement to members of the press, Congressman Marcos assured the people of Lanao del Norte that, “kung akoy maupo bilang senador hindi na mahalaga siguro kung anong naging partido ng mga Dimaporo…maasahan nila na kami ay laging tutulong sa kahit anong paraan”.
And even when campaign activities are still heating up, Marcos has already planned for his first day in office as a Philippine senator, “on the first day, I am ready to file already some proposed bills to strengthen the agricultural sector…the education sector…and to create jobs I’d like to strengthen our tourism. The other thing that I would like to introduce also is universal health insurance”.
The Ilocos Norte congressman is also an active advocate of alternative energy having transformed his province from being an electricity-starve region to an energy-producing province by harnessing the power of the wind.
With the exponential economic growth and development Bongbong Marcos has brought to Ilocos Norte, 2nd District Representative Abdullah Dimaporo expressed his confidence in the capability of Marcos, ”his experience in Ilocos can be better use in the senate para makatulong sa buong bansa”.
