Tubod, Lanao del Norte, Dec. 12 (PIA) – As it marks its 50th Anniversary, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), Lanao del Norte Council, successfully celebrated its Golden Jubilee during the 18th Provincial Jamboree slated on December 8-11, 2011 at the Agora Grounds, Sagadan, Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

Governor Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo, the council chairman, recognized the contribution of the boy scouts in the province. “I want the Provincial Jamboree of Lanao del Norte to be the best Jamboree in Mindanao,” expressed Governor Dimaporo.

During its culminating activity, keynote speaker Regional Chairman Jose Manuel Dalipe, BSP Western Mindanao, expressed that the Lanao del Norte Boy Scouts has somehow contributed to the scouting movement in terms of developing self-reliance, self-discipline, self-confidence, and self-respect.

“You have proven during your participation to the One Mindanao Jamboree garnering major awards and being the Biggest Delegation with 600 scouts and scouters… the once sleeping giant in Mindanao is now awaken…,” added Dalipe.

A Golden Jubilee Year Plaque given by the national organization was also formally presented to Governor Dimaporo.

A series of activities have been lined up to commemorate this occasion such as Global Development Village (Education & Children’s Rights, Peace, Health & Nutrition, Environmental Protection & Conservation, Science & Technology and Entrepreneurship), Challenge Valley & Orienteering, Community Development, Community Service, and Back to Basics, Arts & Crafts, Livelihood Skills, Water Rescue & Survival, Jambo Race, Emergency Preparedness, Signaling (Semaphore & Wigwag), Knot Tying, Fire by friction, Cooking under the heavy rain and Tower Building.

Honorary Chairman former Congressman Abdullah D. Dimaporo graced the celebration with some members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. Also present were Council Scout Commissioner Dr. Maria Luisa B.
