Chinese investors eye Lanao del Norte
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Top chinese executives from the Muhibbah company visited the provincial government of Lanao del Norte on August 3, 2011 to explore possible investment opportunities in this province.
Department heads from Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Provincial Veterinarian’s Office (PVO), Provincial Engineer’s Office, Provincial Tourism Office, and Provincial Agriculturist’s Office took turns in briefing the visiting Chinese nationals on the latest economic and agricultural profile of the province.
“We are pleased with this visit by our Chinese investors. This shows that foreign investors are starting to take notice of Lanao del Norte is a potential investment location here in the Philippines”, Provincial Administrator Joselito Quibranza said.
The investors are looking into the agricultural sector as a possible area of investment considering that Lanao del Norte has been identified by the Department of Agriculture as one of the leading producers of agricultural, marine and dairy products in Mindanao.
In the coming days, the group will conduct field inspections of the different crops and fruits produced by the towns in the province.
“We need to attract more investors that are willing to pump in fresh capital here in the province so we can create more job opportunities for our people and help realize Vision 2020 crafted by the Dimaporo leadership”, Information Officer Lyndon Calica said.
Another possible investment project eyed by the Chinese group is the highly-anticipated construction of the Panguil Bay bridge that will connect the capital town of Tubod and Tangub City in Misamis Occidental.
Also attending the investment briefing are officials from international construction firm EGS International. VNL/PIO-LDN
