Tubod, Lanao del Norte - Promoting a healthy lifestyle among the youth of Lanao del Norte was the primary reason for the holding of a Health Quiz Road Show at the Macapagal Training Center, Pigcarangan, Tubod this province last March 15, 2011.

The province-wide quiz bowl was organized by the European Union to bring awareness on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The inter-school activity is also part of EU’s Information, Communication, and Visibility Plan (ICVP), in partnership with the Department of Health, the Department of Education, Local Government Units, and the Office of the Provincial Governor.

The anticipated event supports the National Health Sector Reform Program of the DoH, and the country’s efforts to meet its health-related Millennium Development Goals.

The competition was participated by third year high school students from different public schools in Lanao del Norte. Prior to the start of the final round, each contestant was given handouts dealing on the essential health issues for them to review on.

Topping the quiz bowl was Ace Suganob from the Lala National High School. As the Health Youth Champion of Lanao del Norte, Suganob won a brand new Samsung laptop with a broadband kit.

A brand new Acer personal computer was also given to Lala National High School as the winning school in the competition.
The second-place winner was Ivy Rose Artuyo from Lanao Norte National Comprehensive High School who received a brand new Samsung Mini Laptop.

Securing the third spot was Janne Mary Daluz of Kapatagan National high School who won an MP3 player as her prize.

Mr. Suganob will be competing again against the other Health Quiz champions from 7 different provinces of Mindanao for the Grand Championship Health Quiz to be held later this year. LAR-PIO/LDN
