General assembly of daycare workers held
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – More than 400 daycare workers from 22 municipalities of this province arrived yesterday (April 29) at the Mindanao Civic Center for their annual general assembly.
Organized by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Anabelle Mendez, the meeting threshed out concerns of the daycare workers. Among the issues raised were the absence of a permanent facility for daycare sessions in some of the barangays, additional honorarium and regular trainings to further enhance their teaching skills.
“These workers are the ones molding and nurturing the pre-school children in our barangays. I hope that they will continue to perform their noble and very important service to the best of their abilities”, expressed Ms. Mendez.
Governor Khalid Dimaporo in his speech encouraged the daycare workers to promote healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition in their classrooms to help create a healthier and more productive community.
“Being in the forefront in our battle against malnutrition, poor health and illiteracy, all of you (daycare workers) is in a unique position to guide and support our children towards a better and healthier future”, urged Gov. Dimaporo.
For his part, Gov. Dimaporo committed to look for additional sources of fund to provide a permanent facility for daycare sessions in depressed barangays.
During the meeting, the daycare workers were also advised to fully implement the Essential Health Care Program (EHCP) that teaches children proper tooth brushing and hand washing. VNL/PIO-LDN
