Tubod, Lanao del Norte – To allay the fears of the riding public after 2 incidents of bus attacks in the town of Kapatagan, Gov. Dimaporo together with Mayor Benjie Baguio convened the municipal peace and order council here last September 1.

“We need to put in place security measures that will ensure that incidents like these will not happen again, and if in the remotest possibility that it recurs the perpetrators will be speedily apprehended and brought to justice”, Gov. Dimaporo stressed.

The council meeting was participated by representatives from Rural Transit Mindanao, Inc. (RTMI), AFP and PNP officials, barangay chairmen and municipal and provincial legislators.

During the meeting, Dimaporo tasked the 35th IB led by Lt. Col. Ferdinand Razalan to broaden the implementation of its Integrated Territorial Security System (ITCC) to include the vulnerable barangays in Kapatagan and nearby towns.

The ITSS which is being implemented in Kolambugan and other coastal towns under the 35th IB has proven to be very effective in gathering operational intelligence, preventing crimes and even in the conduct of hot pursuit operations against lawless elements.

“I want RTMI to resume its normal operations as soon as possible”, Dimaporo told the council members.

Presently, RTMI has suspended its nighttime operations in the province to prevent similar attacks from recurring.

“We are very happy on the immediate action of Gov. Khalid Dimaporo in addressing these alarming incidents. With the implementation of the ITCC and the strong lines of communication between our barangay leaders and security forces, we believe that we have effectively address these threats and restore back the confidence to the riding public”, Kapatagan Mayor Benjie Baguio said.
