Tubod, Lanao del Norte - The Search for Lanao del Norte’s Singing Ambassador officially ended with the declaration of Gerald Buhia as the grand winner. The one-day singing competition was held on March 3, 2011 at the Provincial Capitol building, Pigcarangan, Tubod, this province.


His winning performance came after he sung Martin Nieveras’s “Promise of Love”. Captivating the crowd with his powerful rendition of this popular love song, Buhia bested the other 4 singers in the competition.


Buhia had been joining and already won several singing contests in the past both local and national.


The winners were judged based on the following criteria: Voice Quality (diction/enunciation, voice distinction and tonal quality) 40%; Stage Performance (performance level, showmanship, timing, projection, confidence) 30%; Star Quality (total personality packaging, style, bearing, appropriateness of attire) 20%; and Audience Impact (ability to capture audience attention) 10%.


The event was organized by the provincial government of Lanao del Norte through its Tourism Office headed by Minda Regis.


The search for Lanao del Norte’s Singing Ambassador is one of the highly-anticipated event after the recently concluded Culinary Festival here in the province.


Gerald Buhia will represent Lanao del Norte in the regional competition to be held at Cagayan de Oro City for the right to represent Region 10 in the national finals.


The proclaimed winners shall enjoy the opportunity to travel and perform in cultural and tourism-related activities as its singing ambassador.
