Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The provincial government of Lanao del Norte has joined the 12th Philippine Web Awards. The Philippine Web Awards (PWA) is an award giving body that annually recognizes the best Filipino-created Web sites and honors the individuals and teams behind them.

As an entry in the E-LGU category, the Lanao del Norte official website (www.lanaodelnorte.gov.ph) will be competing against formidable opponents for the People’s Choice Awards. Among the contestants in this year’s competition are
the City of Manila, City Government of Zamboanga, Municipality of Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte, Province of Sulu, and Municipality of Padada, Davao del Sur.

Other websites will also be competing for the top awards in the 12 categories: Arts and Portfolio; Blogs; Community and Portal; Corporations, Foundations, Organizations;      E-Business; E-Government; E-LGU; Lifestyle and Leisure; News, Zines and Entertainment; Personal; Schools; and SMEs.

Last year’s winners in the E-LGU category were bataan.gov.ph as the Judges’ Choice winner and agusandelnorte.gov.ph as the People’s Choice Awardee.

This year is Lanao del Norte’s first entry in the national website competition.

“This is another initiative of the provincial government headed by Governor Khalid Dimaporo to bring the government closer to the people. Our website is also fast becoming an important avenue for our residents to voice-out their concerns or reactions to our various social projects”, Information Officer Lyndon Calica expressed.

The Lanao del Norte website is envisioned to provide the local population with an additional tool to post queries or feedbacks and enable the provincial government to gauge the effectiveness of its programs.

“In the near future, people can avail of services from the provincial government without having to leave their homes”, Calica added.
