Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The Boy Scouts of the Philippines - Lanao del Norte Council headed by its Chairman Governor Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo hosted the 2012 First Regional Scout Committee Meeting (RESCOM) and Key-3 Conference for Western Mindanao Region on February 3, 2012.

The 1st RESCOM was held at the picturesque 3-Star MCC Hotel, in the capital town of Tubod, this province.

During the conference, BSP Lanao del Norte Council was given recognition as the biggest delegation who participated in the first-ever BSP One-Mindanao Jamboree held at Pagadian City last November 23 to 27, 2011.

“We sent more than 600 hundred delegates for the Mindanao-wide Jamboree to show our strong support to the scouting movement and to the host council,” Council Scout Executive Ariel Sayre said.

For his part, Council Chairman and Zamboanga del Sur Governor Antonio Cerilles commended Lanao del Norte’s contingent saying, “I am very impressed with the number of participants which Gov. Khalid Dimaporo sent to us during the Jamboree. I am very happy and thankful to the Lanao del Norte Council”.

Among the topics discussed in the meeting were the region’s participation in national BSP activities for the month of February which include national scouts venture, risks and safety management seminar-workshop and national youth forum for Mindanao. BSP membership was also tackled comparing 2010 and 2011 enrolled members which has significantly increased from 85,097 members in 2010 to 122,357 in December 2011.

Also attending the RESCOM were BSP Secretary-General Jose Rizal Pangilinan, BSP Regional Director Pedro Penados, BSP Region 10 Director Manuel Jose Dalipe, and other BSP provincial officials.

“It’s not only in membership that this region has contributed much to the national office but you also authored the One-Mindanao Jamboree which is now copied nationwide”, Secretary-General Pangilinan said.   

Another anticipated BSP event is the National Scouts Venture scheduled this coming February 22 to 26, 2012 at Davao City. VNL & LAR-PIO/LDN
