Maria Cristina, Iligan City last April 23, 2010.Tubod, Lanao del Norte – To preserve the prevailing peace and order situation in the province as election day approaches,  candidates of Lakas-Kampi-CMD Lanao del Norte chapter signed a peace covenant with their political opponents last April 23, at the 601st Brigade Headquarters, Bgry. Maria Cristina, Iligan City.

“Despite the political violence that’s happening in the other provinces, we are determined to keep the peace here in Lanao del Norte”, assured Gov. Khalid Dimaporo (Lakas-Kampi-CMD Provincial Chairman).

Several local candidates from Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino, Liberal and Nacionalista parties were also present to heed the call of COMELEC, Philippine Army, Philippine National Police and civil society organizations for an honest, orderly and peace elections come May 10.

“It’s high time now for politician’s to elevate their campaign strategies from the usual mudslinging of allegations to the more proper presentation of policies and platforms of government”, exhorted Aliah Dimaporo, candidate for the 2nd congressional district.

The activity was also highlighted by messages of hope from Janina Bernardo (CSO-FP President), Rev. Fr. Albert Mendez (Social Action Center) and Atty. Renato Magbutay (Region 10 Election Director).   

Present during the covenant signing were Former-Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo, Vice-Governor Irma Umpa Ali, Col. Leo Cresente Ferrer (601st Brigade Commander), SSupt. Orlando Beñas (PNP Provincial Director), and Atty. Joseph Hamilton Cuevas (Provincial Election Supervisor).
