Tubod, Lanao del Norte – More than 30 of the country’s top athletes came to the capital town of Tubod, this province last November 20 to participate in the biggest bodybuilding competition this year.



Dubbed as Maskulino Pilipino 2010, the contest was organized by the provincial government of Lanao del Norte and 5 of the biggest bodybuilding organizations in the country.



The event was held in the sprawling Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex.



“This is the biggest bodybuilding contest in the country this year. We’re happy that Gov. Khalid Dimaporo is very supportive of this sport”, Maskulino Pilipino over-all chairman Ringo Borlain expressed.



Declared as 2010 Mr. Maskulino Pilipino is Roman Cortuna, Jr.  from Taguig City. Mr. Cortuna is a multi-awarded athlete having won Mr. Philippines 2006 and Mr. Universe 2nd placer of that same year.



Mr. Cortuna was also declared as the top winner in the professional category. Grabbing 2nd place is Jonathan Casimiro, the 2008 Mr. Asia Pacific.



“We’re very happy with the quality of athletes that joined our competition. Expect bigger sporting events next year especially during our Araw ng Lanao del Norte celebrations on the month of July”, Governor Dimaporo said.



The competition had 4 divisions: Figure for the female contestants; Small, Medium and Tall for the Male athletes.



“So far this is the best contest that we have attended. The athletes are very well taken cared of”, professional contestant Francisco Borinaga expressed.



During the event, Governor Khalid Dimaporo was also given the Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Award. And also performing his posing exhibition was Mr. Andy Leguardia popularly known in the bodybuilding community as Mr. Moonwalker.



Lanao del Norte is also scheduled to host the biggest motocross event in the country on December 10-12, 2010 which will pit top Philippine riders against the racers from the American Motocross Association (AMA). VNL/PIO-LDN
