Lanao Norte lawmaker to be part of Philippine contingent for ASEAN Young Leaders Training Program in China
Baloi, Lanao del Norte – The National Youth Commission under the Office of the President of the Philippines recently chose Provincial Board Member Alexander Ali of Lanao del Norte to be a delegate to the ASEAN Young Leaders Training Program to be conducted in Nanning , Guangxi and Beijing , China from October 11 to 31, 2010.
Hon. Ali will be one of the twenty (20) participants that would comprise the Philippine delegation to this event as revealed by Undersecretary Christopher Lawrence S. Arnuco, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Commission.
“The objective of this ASEAN Young Leaders Training Program is to create harmonious relationship with the Chinese people, so this is actually a positive development for Lanao del Norte being a provincial board member to be selected as one of the Philippine delegates to build relations with Chinese government, its people and their enterprises”, said Hon. Ali.
This training program is launched by the All-China Youth Federation with the aim of enhancing friendly relationship between China and ASEAN countries and promoting the friendship and mutual trust of the young generations. During the three-week program, the attendees will learn basic Chinese language; study Chinese history, culture, politics, economy; visit enterprises, governments, schools, communities and rural areas in Guangxi and Beijing; and interact with Chinese youth.
“As well all know that China is no longer a sleeping giant… China is now considered as one of the super-powers in terms of economy in the whole world”, expressed the young lawmaker. He added that “maybe there are opportunities wherein we could look for sister province in China … and also invite them and other delegates to visit our province.”
Ali has been in public service for more than a decade, being a Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President in 1996, elected Municipal Councilor of Balo-I in 2007 and presently a provincial board member of the first district of Lanao del Norte. He has been a part of NYC’s Muslim Youth Summit, BOS-ISKOLAR and the 1st National Youth Parliament.
