Lanao Norte LGU and Turkish Government to distribute beef on Edil Adha
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – In celebration of Islam’s Festival of Sacrifice (Eid al-Adha), two hundred cattle is set to be slaughtered and distributed in the towns of Balo-i, Tubod and Sultan Naga Dimaporo, all in this province.
Dubbed as Cattle Slaughtering and Meat Distribution Festival, the halal beef will be distributed to indigent families in these municipalities on November 16 to 18, 2010.
“This partnership between Lanao del Norte and the Turkish Government is the result of the provincial government’s effective implementation of social programs that benefit the Muslim residents of Lanao del Norte”, Provincial Veterinarian Usodan Samporna said.
Tasked to determine the beneficiary-families in each of the 3 towns is the Provincial Community Affairs Office (PCAO) headed by Lyndon Calica.
“Regardless of religious affiliation, families who qualify as indigents will benefit from this festival”, Calica explained.
More than 20 thousand kilos of beef is expected to be distributed to the 8 thousand identified beneficiary-families in these 3 towns. Each household will be receiving 2.5 kilos of halal meat.
“We are encouraging all those who have cattle to sell to contact the Veterinarian’s office. Their cattle must not be less than two years old”, invited Dr. Samporna.
During this year’s celebration of Edil Fit’r, the provincial government also distributed rice to depressed areas in the province. VNL/PIO-LDN
