Lanao Norte LGU provides assistance to victims of collapsed school building
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – 2 elementary students were killed and 8 others were injured when an abandoned school building in Sapad this province suddenly collapsed last July 28.Immediately responding to the incident, Gov. Khalid Dimaporo together with Vice-Governor Irma Ali and DepEd Division Superintendent Ma. Luisa Mutia went to Sapad Central School to personally inspect the accident site and extend assistance to the victims and their families.
“The Provincial Government gave food assistance and financial assistance to the victims of this unfortunate accident. We gave ten thousand pesos to the families of those who died and five thousand pesos to those who were injured”, Social Welfare Officer Annabelle Mendez reported.
Gov. Dimaporo also visited the homes of the students killed to console their families and personally hand over the financial assistance.
“We will try our best to take care of these children (victims). I am tasking the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to conduct an investigation on this”, Gov. Dimaporo said.
Aside from the food and financial assistance, the provincial government has recommended to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Regional Welfare Office for the victims and their families to be given additional assistance.
The Lanao Norte LGU thru its Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office is also conducting stress debriefing for the faculty and students involved in the incident. VNL/PIO-LDN
