Governor Khalid Dimaporo and PNP Provincial Director Orlando Benas sign the Memorandum of Agreement that will grant the Lanao del Norte police force one million pesos for the procurement of forensic equipment for its new crime laboratory.Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The Philippine National Police provincial headquarters based in this province will soon be building its own Crime Laboratory after receiving financial assistance from Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and the provincial government.

This was learned during the simple turn-over and acceptance ceremony held last March 25, 2011 at the Provincial Governor’s office.

Senator Pangilinan released P500,000 from his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) for the construction of the Crime Laboratory building.  The crime lab will be built within the sprawling grounds of Camp Gallego, Brgy. Pigcarangan, in the capital town of Tubod.

For his part, Governor Khalid Dimaporo committed one million pesos for the procurement of forensic equipment to enhance the capabilities of the crime laboratory.

“We are very much thankful to Senator Pangilinan and Governor Dimaporo for helping us build the crime laboratory. This will inspire us even more to perform better in maintaining the peace and order here in Lanao del Norte”, PNP Provincial Director Orlando Beñas expressed.

Presently, the provincial PNP is still dependent of the crime laboratory of nearby cities like Iligan and Ozamis to process evidences gathered from crime scenes. In numerous cases, results would often take weeks before these are received.

However, once operational, the Lanao del Norte crime laboratory will be able provide technical support to different investigative units of the provincial PNP and aid the local police force in solving crimes faster. VNL/PIO-LDN
