Lanao Norte residents continue to benefit from Free Clinic program
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The mobile clinic program has been implemented in the province since the time of then Governor Abdullah Dimaporo, now the provincial government led by Governor Khalid Dimaporo is ensuring that Lanao del Norte residents continue to enjoy this important healthcare service.
Every mobile clinic activity initiated by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Provincial Community Affairs Office (PCAO) includes free medical and dental consultation, free circumcision, and free medicines for ailing residents.
This year, 20 out of the 22 towns in Lanao del Norte were visited by the medical team conducting the free clinic. The interior towns of Tangcal and Nunungan were excluded from the list due to the impassable roads caused to heavy rains.
Local residents availing of the free consultation also received their prescribed medicines for cough, colds, fever, pain relievers, anti-protozoal, anti-bacterial and even multi-vitamins.
The annual mobile clinic started last April 19, 2011 and ended on May 26.
According to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Melania A. Untao, there were a total of 10,800 consultations, 1,838 dental works, and 2,846 circumcisions conducted.
The medical and dental teams from the provincial government were also assisted by private doctors, PCAO municipal coordinators, volunteer nurses, and military doctors from the Armed Forces of the Philippines who helped in circumcision.
“We are very much thankful to the Dimaporos for continuing the free medical and dental missions here in our town. It’s a great help to us specially that we live in an interior municipality”, 61-year-old Juliana Tomimbang expressed.
The annual activity is a legacy of the Dimaporo leadership in promoting a health population by making quality healthcare accessible to its local residents. LAR & VNL/PIO-LDN
