Lanao Norte Shooters’ Club conducts Gun Safety Seminar

Tubod, Lanao del Norte – “Everybody who owns a firearm should be responsible for that firearm”. Adhering to this principle the newly organized Lanao del Norte Practical Shooters’ Association (LDNPSA) sponsored a Gun Safety and Responsible Gun Ownership Seminar at the Macapagal Training Center, Tubod, this province last February 16.
Facilitating the 1-day seminar were Gun Safety Instructors Dick Lao, Walter Uy and Rey Encabo (accredited trainors of the PNP-FED; firearms regulating arm of the PNP).
“Without the proper training, gun owners might cause gun-related accidents or they might carry or use their firearms in a matter that is illegal”, stressed Mr. Lao.
The seminar exposed the participants to various legislations involving firearms, processing of required permits, election gun ban and requisites for valid self-defense.
In the seminar, club members were also taught the proper grip and stance when firing their weapons to increase speed and accuracy.
“We hope that through this seminar and constant practice, we will have members who can compete in the national and if possible international level in the very near future”, expressed LDNPSA President-Elect Lyndon Calica.
Repeatedly stressed during the training were the 4 rules of gun safety: 1. Consider all guns as loaded; 2. Never let the muzzle of the gun point to anything unless you want to shoot it; 3. Keep your finger off the trigger unless you are ready to fire and; 4. Be sure of your target – what lies beyond and around it before you shoot.
Upon completion of the workshop, members of LDNPSA then proceeded to elect their pioneering set of officers.
Elected were the following club officers: Lyndon Calica (President), Teddy Boy Procianos (Vice-President), Judge Alberto Quinto (Secretary), Antonio Valiente (Treasurer), Teoly Clamucha (Auditor), and CanCan Elumir (PIO). Also elected as Board of Trustees were Arturo Pangilinan, Giovanni Bontilao and Lorenzo Manigos. VNL/PIO-LDN
