Lt. Col. Ferdinand Razalan answers questions raised by municipal mayors on security concerns during the Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting held at the Macapagal Training Center, Tubod, Lanao del Norte. Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Governor Khalid Dimaporo urged local authorities and government security forces to aim for zero violence in the upcoming synchronized barangay and SK elections.

The call was made by Governor Dimaporo during the recent Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting held last October 6 at Macapagal Training Center, Tubod, this province.

“We must target zero incidence of violence in the coming barangay and SK elections to show our neighboring cities and provinces and even the entire nation that Lanao del Norte is indeed a peaceful place”, Dimaporo said.

The meeting was attended by town mayors from the 1st and 2nd districts of the province, provincial police force, military officers, COMELEC officials and DILG representatives.

The appeal for peaceful elections is in response to growing public concern that the October 25 polls will be marred with more election-related violence than the previous national elections.

The provincial government is aiming to duplicate its zero violence record in the last May elections.

During the PPOC meeting, PNP Provincial Director Orlando Benas and Col. Leo Cresente Ferrer presented their respective peace and order reports to the council members. VNL/PIO-LDN
