Tubod, Lanao del Norte – More than 700 youth leaders from all over the province expressed their firm commitment to adhere to the values taught by their parents and continue to pursue morally upright lives.

The call was made by organizers of the Provincial Youth Summit held at the Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) gymnasium last April 8 in response to the deteriorating values of the youth worsened by the constant promotion of negative behavior by the media.

“We are very happy that the young people responded well to the lectures and activities
of this summit. We need to guide their young minds to what is ideal and productive because in the very near future they will carry the responsibility of running this country”, expressed Acting Provincial Population Officer Ananette Daniel.

Prior to the provincial summit, youth leaders from the 22 municipalities also participated in the 1st Provincial Youth Leaders Camp which was also held in the sprawling grounds of the Mindanao Civic Center.

“The youth is a very potent force that can bring about positive change and development in the community. Their idealism and boundless energy will help propel Lanao del Norte to even greater heights”, Gov. Khalid Dimaporo said.

Activities like camping, self-awareness, team building, slogan and jingle contests, Mr. and Ms. Youth Camp and the anticipated Cheerdance Competition were eagerly participated in by the young people.

An election of officers was also conducted to organize the out-of-school-youth of the province to enable them to make better representation in the local and national issues.

Elected were Richard Reyes (President), Lord Leos Lavv Ladonga (Linamon), Jowil Sambalod (Secretary), Joan Real (Treasurer), Wilson Begornia (Auditor), Grace Calumba and Aiza Jambongana (PIOs), Mea Vanessa Manto and Faidah Manamparan (Social Managers).
