More towns in Lanao del Norte set to benefit from 4Ps
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Gov. Khalid Dimaporo, DSWD-10 Regional Director Araceli Solamillo and mayors from beneficiary municipalities signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on September 3 that will expand the areas covered by the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to include the towns in the 1st district of Lanao del Norte.
“This is a very happy day for us. Finally, our underprivileged constituents can now avail of the benefits of this laudable program from DSWD”, Linamon Mayor Noel Deaño expressed.
The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is a poverty reduction and social development strategy of the national government that provides conditional cash grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education particularly of children aged 0-14.
In his speech, Gov. Dimaporo called on the town mayors to fully support the new administration of President Aquino. “We need to show our full support to the Aquino administration and show that here in Lanao del Norte, government programs and projects are well implemented”, Dimaporo urged.
4Ps seeks to fulfill 2 objectives. As a social assistance, by providing financial support to the poor to alleviate their immediate need (short term poverty alleviation); and as a social development tool to break the intergenerational poverty cycle through investments in human capital.
With the entry of additional currency into the local economy, the 4Ps program is also expected to pump prime the local businesses and stimulate economic growth in the province.
The MOA signing ceremony was held at the Macapagal Training Center, Tubod, this province and was facilitated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office. VNL/PIO-LDN
