New farm-to-market road under Kalahi-CIDDS nears completion
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Construction of the anticipated farm-to-market road project in Brgy. Matampay, Bucana, Lala, this province will soon be completed under the on-going implementation of the Kapitbisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDDS) program of DSWD.
The announcement was made after a simple ribbon-cutting ceremony held at the site last November 11, 2011.
For his part, Governor Khalid Dimaporo was pleased with the latest project under Kalahi-CIDDS in the coastal town of Lala.
Four other towns in Lanao del Norte continue to benefit from the Kalahi-CIDDS program – Kapatagan, Bacolod, Salvador and Sapad.
“The provincial government is always quick in releasing our counterpart because these are community-driven projects. These projects are what our people wanted”, Dimaporo said.
Spearheading the implementation of the project is the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Anabelle Mendez with the assistance of DSWD Region 10.
Upon completion, the farm-to-market road will help ease the transportation of cultured crabs from the fish pens to their selling areas.
In the past, crab farmers used to carry their harvested crabs through the small dikes which normally take almost an hour to cross on foot just to reach the local market.
Now using the new road, farmers can easily reach the town market in less than 15 minutes. VNL & LAR/PIO-LDN
