OWWA announces new programs and services for OWWA member-OFW in Lanao del Norte
TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – Last July 29, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Regional Office 10 recently conducted a meeting together with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers of the provincial government and various municipalities in Lanao del Norte to make massive dissemination of information about the OWWA’s new programs and services for all OWWA member-OFW in the province.
OWWA is the lead government agency tasked to promote the welfare and well-being of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families. It delivers health care, disability and death benefits, scholarships and financial assistance for education and training, workers assistance and on-site services and family welfare assistance subject to the qualification requirements and availability of OWWA funds.
“I am encouraging all the PESO managers in the different municipalities in Lanao del Norte to gather all the OWWA members- OFW in their respective areas of responsibility and inform them to avail the programs and services of OWWA,” said Leonor C. Mabagal, OIC-OWWA R-10 referring to the members and families who are not yet aware of the programs.
For US$25.00 membership contribution, an OWWA member is entitled to these following benefits; Health Care, Disability and Death Benefits under this benefit are the Health Program for OFWs (HEALTHPRO) which subsidized medical and hospitalization services for OFWs in response to the medical assistance needs of distressed OFWs, whether local or abroad, OFW Medical Rehabilitation Program in which the member is entitle of 20,000-200,000 of financial assistance on case-to-case basis, Education and Training Benefits allows the member to enroll a mandatory training for all departing migrant workers and other short-term vocational and technician’s course for OFWs and their dependents and other scholarship programs for the dependents, OWWA also provides workers assistance and on-site services to OFW members who seek counseling ang legal assistance and lastly is the Social Services and Family Welfare Assistance which enlightens the member-OFW’s economic and social reintegration through business counseling, community organizing, financial literacy seminars and livelihood loans.
