PSHS starts annual search of scholars
lligan City—The Philippine Science High School System-Central Mindanao Campus (PSHS-CMC) invites applicants in the search for scholars through the National Competitive Examination (NCE).School registrar Liza O. Andoy of PSHS-CMC campus at Nangka, Baloi,Lanao del Norte, said they encourage Grade 6 or 7 elementary pupils from a duly recognized school of the Department of Education, to secure and file their application on or before August 27, 2010.
Only one test will be administered, a scholastic aptitude test (known as NCE) which is designed to measure Science Ability, Quantitative Ability, Abstract Reasoning and Verbal Aptitude, slated on November 6, 2010.
This is a government program under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) which gives opportunity to gifted Filipino children to avail a quality education for free.
A pupil eligible to apply for this scholarship must belong to the upper 10% of the graduating class and does not have a grade below 80, certified by the school principal.
He/she must be a Filipino citizen with no pending application as immigrant to any foreign country. Born on or after June 1, 1996, must be in good health and fit to undergo a rigorous academic program, and of good conduct and behavior.
The applicant must accomplish application form in two (2) copies, with attached two (2) identical recent 1x1 ID pictures, a test fee of P100.00 for private school pupil applicant only (free for public school pupils) and a copy of report card if the applicant does not belong to the upper 10% of the graduating class.
Andoy said, our campus has 36 competent faculties and 14 staff to nurture the Philippine Science High School Scholar that is humanistic in spirit, global in perspective and patriotic in orientation. We based our curriculum that emphasizes science and mathematics, and the development of well-rounded individuals.
PSHS offers scholarship privileges like free tuition fee, free loan of textbooks, monthly stipend, and uniform, transportation and living allowances are also given to those belonging to low income groups.
