Rep. Imelda Dimaporo spreads holiday cheers to inmates
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Tis the season of sharing and giving. Spreading the Christmas cheers last December 20 to inmates of the provincial jail and Tubod municipal jail is first on the list for 1st District Representative Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo.
The first-time congresswoman is back in her hometown of Tubod following Congress’ declaration of a Christmas break.
The gift-giving and “salo-salo” (eating together) was a happy surprise event for the inmates who were touched by the special attention given to them by Rep. Dimaporo.
“This is actually a family tradition that my father started. When I sat as Governor, I made it a point to have this kind of activity during my father’s birthday. Unfortunately, for the last couple of years, we weren’t able to have this but now, we’re happy to continue this tradition again”, Rep. Dimaporo explained.
All 153 inmates of the Lanao del Norte provincial jail were treated to a sumptuous dinner with Rep. Dimaporo and were each given a pack of toiletries.
“We are very much thankful to Ma’am Angging (Dimaporo) for making us feel special and loved especially during this Christmas season”, inmate Edgar Tianson said.
During her visit, the inmates offered Rep. Dimaporo a few Christmas songs as an expression of their gratitude.
“We are inspired to work even harder because of this visit. We are also looking forward to the assistance that Congresswoman Dimaporo will be extending to us next year”, Provincial Warden Perlito Gementiza said. VNL/PIO-LDN
