Tubod, Lanao del Norte – To celebrate its recent wins in the 30th year of Cebu’s Sinulog Festival, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte held a victory party for the students and administration of Kapatagan National High School (KNHS) at the MCC Pool Area, Sagadan, Tubod last February 5. “We are thankful to the provincial government for giving the students this victory party because they really enjoyed it”, expressed KNHS Principal Letecia Lagura. The municipality of Kapatagan was the official representative of the province after winning the Municipal Festivals Contest in the 50th Araw ng Lanao del Norte last year. After just two months of practice, the Lanao del Norte contingent won 2 major awards in the Street Dancing competition as 2nd Runner-up and as 3rd Runner-up in the Grand Showdown of the Festival. Ms. Lota Correos, the reigning Ms. Lanao del Norte who joined the search for the Sinulog Festival Queen, also won as 3rd Runner-up in the competition. During the celebration activity, the provincial government also gave KNHS one computer set to augment their school equipment. “We would like to thank Governor Khalid Dimporo for the computer set, this will greatly help the school especially now that we are preparing for the National Achievement test”, Mrs. Lagura said. Providing the entertainment for the Sinulog celebration is the top band of Iligan City – 99th Avenue. “This is our humble way of showing our gratitude and appreciation to the students and administration of Kapatagan National High School for making us proud in our latest entry in this year’s Sinulog Festival”, said Provincial Tourism Officer Minda Regis. Present also during the event were the faculty and staff of KNHS, Board member Val Zamora, Provincial Administrator Joselito Quibranza, Provincial Legal Officer Jonathan Puno, and Kapatagan Tourism Officer Paul Lagura.
