Tubod, Lanao del Norte – “We’re very thankful to President Noynoy Aquino for implementing these poverty reduction programs here in the province”, this was the statement made by Governor Khalid Dimaporo last September 15 during the launching of KALAHI- CIDSS program in the municipality of Lala.
KALAHI-CIDSS is a community-driven development project that aims to empower communities, reduce poverty and improve local governance. This is done through community participation in development initiatives in their barangays.
11 towns comprising the first congressional district of Lanao del Norte are also set to benefit from thePantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of DSWD.
Speaking in behalf of the town mayors, Linamon Mayor Noel Deaño said, “This is a very happy day for us. Finally, our underprivileged constituents can now avail of the benefits of this laudable program from DSWD”.
The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is another poverty reduction and social development strategy of the national government that provides conditional cash grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education particularly of children aged 0-14.
In his speech during the 4Ps MOA signing ceremony, Gov. Dimaporo called on the town mayors to fully support the administration of President Aquino. “We need to show our full support to the Aquino administration and show that here in Lanao del Norte, government programs and projects are well implemented”, Dimaporo urged.
For her part, DSWD-10 Regional Director Araceli Solamillo praised the provincial government for its all out support to DSWD’s programs, “The kind of support that Governor Khalid Dimaporo is giving to us is a sign that he has a heart for development in his areas of jurisdiction, and with this, he deserves the DSWD’s commendation,” Solamillo said.
DSWD-10 noted that both the KALAHI-CIDSS and 4Ps have been successfully implemented in other areas in Lanao del Norte, building numerous infrastructures which have been built by the communities themselves to reduce poverty in their areas.
