The death of Fiscal Marsangca is a great loss to us—Gov. Dimaporo
The sudden death of our provincial prosecutor Macadatar Marsangca is a great loss to us.
Lanao del Norte Gov. Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo made this comment when he was interviewed by journalists during a press conference held in the provincial Capitol regarding the killing of Marsangca by two unidentified suspects in Iligan City early today (Wednesday).
The victim was shot in the head by one of the motorcycle riders at 6:45 a.m. while jogging at the Pryce Quadrangle, Tubod, Iligan City. The place is usually guarded by an assigned policemen while government officials like Marsangca are doing exercises to make them fit for their jobs. But this time, no police car or policemen were on site when the heinous crime was committed and perhaps others who were in the vicinity might saw the incident.
According to Dimaporo, Marsangca had been doing good to settle disputes like “rido” which is one of the big problems in Lanao del Norte and even in other parts of Mindanao. “Rido” is the term use for exacting vengeance by the other aggrieved party against the other and it is lead to continuous killing if the dispute is not resolved by both parties involved.
Marsangca as a lead prosecutor in Lanao del Norte had settled “ridos” in the province involved by big clans or families and now he is gone, says Dimaporo. “I appeal to President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino, Justice Secretary Lilia de Lima and PNP Chief Jesus Versoza to protect our prosecutors, lawyers and judges so we can preserve our court system and to render justice to all as this is the key to our peace and the strong unity of the Muslims and Christians in the province.”
“The killers and the mastermind on the death of Marsangca should be caught and put in the bar of justice so the people here particularly those big clans or families involved in “rido” should not be discouraged and think that those only who have more guns can take the law into their own hands. The court system must be upheld so in the case of those involved in rido they can settle their dispute in the court and not to take the law into their own hands,” Dimaporo said.
Police reports stated that the killers fled to Barangay Tambacan, Iligan City and they are now the subject of manhunt by Iligan policemen.
The body of the slain victim lies now in his home at Mahayahay, Iligan City where his relatives, officemates, friends, sympathizers and provincial leaders have expressed their sorrows over his sudden death.
