Tubod LGU intensifies drive vs. illegal-gambling
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Six video kareras were dismantled and burned in front of the capitol town’s municipal hall on September 20 to warn illegal gambling operators not to continue their unscrupulous business.
“We are intensifying our drive against these video kareras and all forms of illegal gambling because we pity the children that are getting hooked and victimized. It’s their future that is at stake here”, stressed Tubod Mayor Nelieta Noval.
Last week, two video kareras were also burned by the local officials to demonstrate their strong resolve to finally rid the municipality of the different forms of illegal gambling including the popular “tari-tari” (illegal cockfights).
The confiscated video kareras were the result of earlier raids conducted by a PNP composite team from the regional, provincial and local police force.
The police agents raided the illegal gambling dens in barangays Poblacion, San Antonio, Bualan, and Canyugan.
The anti-illegal gambling drive is also supported by the provincial government to discourage young students from this damaging vice and entice them to go to school. VNL/PIO-LDN
