Victims of collapsed school building receive additional assistance
Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Victims of the tragic collapse of an abandoned school building in Sapad received additional cash assistance from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council headed by Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin.
The 11 elementary students who were injured in the incident each received P5,000 while families of the 2 pupils who died received P10,000.
The additional assistance was distributed by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 10 and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
“This financial assistance is the result of the recommendation made by Governor Dimaporo and Mayor Azis to the Regional Disaster Risk Management Council . We hope that this will help the victims recover faster from their traumatic experience”, said OCD Regional Director Carmelito Lupo.
Immediately after the accident last July 28, Gov. Khalid Dimaporo together with Vice-Governor Irma Ali and DepEd Division Superintendent Ma. Luisa Mutia went to Sapad Central School to personally inspect the accident site and extend assistance to the victims and their families.
For its part, the Provincial Government already gave food assistance and financial assistance amounting to ten thousand pesos to the families of those who died and five thousand pesos to those who were injured.
