World-class fireworks capped Lanao Norte festivities

Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Thousands of visitors and local residents witness the world-class musical fireworks display staged at the Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) sports complex.The highly-anticipated pyrotechnics show held on July 3 is the culmination of the two-week festivities organized by the provincial government for its 52nd Araw ng Lanao del Norte.
“This is by far the longest celebration of our Araw ng Lanao del Norte. We have lined-up concerts, an international motocross competition, a boxing event, nightly activities, our Ms. Lanao del Norte pageant and another spectacular musical fireworks display”, Govenor Khalid Dimaporo said.
The musical pyrotechnics feature the soundtracks of Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster movies such as Titanic, Transformers, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Early in the day, families started to camp out at the MCC grounds in anticipation of this yearly event. Bringing along their food baskets, picnic mats, lawn chairs, tents, and even their pets, the spectacle is starting to become an annual family tradition in this province.
“We really look forward to this fireworks event every year. We even invited our relatives and friends to see and personally experience our grand fireworks display here in Lanao Norte”, expressed Brgy. Maranding resident Sheila Cortez.
The pyrotechnics were provided by Dragon Fireworks, Inc. (DFI) based in Manila. DFI was the official fireworks provider to the 23rd Southeast Asian Games and the fireworks provider to the Champion of the 1st Philippine National Fireworks Display Competition.
Dubbed “Ilaw ng Lanao del Norte”, the fireworks display was 9-minutes long and sent the mammoth crowd at the MCC grandstand into a frenzy.
“We want the ‘Ilaw ng Lanao del Norte’ to showcase the best fireworks display in the country. It symbolizes the best of our province and the bright future that awaits us if we work hard together and fulfill Lanao del Norte’s destiny”, Dimaporo concluded. VNL/PIO-LDN
