150 farmers in Lanao del Norte enroll in SOA
TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – A total of one hundred and fifty (150) farmers enrolled in the recently launched three-month-long School on the Air Program (SOA) on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for corn producers in Lanao del Norte last July 21. The SOA will be aired over DXDD Dan-Ag sa Dakbayan Broadcasting Corporation every Saturday, 6:30 -8:00 in the morning to be anchored by provincial agriculture farm caster Eleanor Sarsalejo.The three-month-long program will discuss topics on the Code of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in corn, high value commercial crops, rice and organic farming. The topics that will be introduced to the students aimed at educating the SOA students on food security and safety in connection with production as well as preparation of corn, rice, vegetables and crops as basic food commodities in various markets.
The Code of GAP is consolidated information on safety and quality standards for production, harvesting, postharvest handling and proper storage of crops produced.
To meet the standards and embrace modernization of the agricultural system in Lanao del Norte, the provincial government agriculture office with joint efforts of the Department of Agriculture- Regional Field Unit 10 (DA-RFU 10) initiated this program to able to compete with other agricultural provinces and may export agricultural products to other countries as well.
SOA is a news-based instructional material which can be heard over DXDD radio station that will help the farmers gain more knowledge and techniques on how to become effective land tillers and growers of various crops thus are able to apply good agricultural practices in their own farm.
A graduation will be expected after three (3) months of studies on air and the DA-RFU 10 will identify top ten deserving students who responded outstandingly with the provided program. ARMS/PIO-LDN canakkale canakkale gelibolu balik tutma
