TUBOD, Lanao del Norte  - “To save the sight and lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. We combat the causes and consequences of blindness and malnutrition by establishing programs based on evidence and research in vision, health and nutrition,” Helen Keller Mission (HKI) in Homestead Food Production (HFP) for peace project in Mindanao.

For this reason, last July 27, a consolidated meeting of the provincial government together with the HKI monitoring and evaluation team headed by Dolly R. Reario was conducted to look at the program in its different perspectives that will be implanted in the soonest time possible in municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo (SND).

Schematic plans had been laid out for the stakeholders to get vivid ideas of the project that optimistically bring change and alleviate the condition of said municipality.  

The HKI organizer had identified SND as a pilot municipality to benefit the project and said program will concentrate in barangays with Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawa - Philippines (RBM-P).

The main objectives of the program are to increase the year-round production of fruits and vegetables by participating households, increase the year-round production of meat, poultry and eggs by participating households, improve consumption of fruits and vegetables and animal source foods by members of households involved in the program, through increase production and nutrition-related education and improve health and nutrition outcomes of women and children in participating households.

The provincial government of Lanao del Norte has been able to sustain the advocacy of peace building and development in the province and continues to seek out partnerships in the quest of progress. ARMS/PIO-LDN
